Take the stuffing and put it into the glove.duct tape (I wrapped my dowel rod in it just for something extra).2 rubber bands or hair ties (or one of each).

Wooden dowel rod (choose the length you like).Cottonballs or fabric stuffing (I used tissues–broke grad student remember?).1 kids size glove (either hand is fine).You’ll need these things to make one awesome finger pointer:

Plus it’s super easy and affordable to make–I mean I made it as a poor graduate student! I actually had a lot of this stuff on hand already. Okay, so it isn’t the most “educational” piece in my speech room but I love having it on hand (pun intended) to make the lesson more exciting and interactive. “What is that?” “What do you do with it?” “Is that a real hand?” “Can I touch it?” I made one of these in grad school and ever since, I’ve had the same results. Of course, they adore it! What kid doesn’t like taking on some aspect of the teacher’s role once in a while (though I wish they’d choose MedicAid Billing more often!)

She uses it to direct whole-class activities and then gives the kids a spin. One tried and true staple of her classroom is this adorable finger pointer. My aunt, who is a Kindergarten teacher, is always passing down morsels of wisdom and fun ideas that she has gained over her 30-something and counting years of teaching! I am proud to say she is one of the most well-known and well-loved teachers in her school district for the fun memories she instilled in her students each year.
